DIY Almond Milk in 5 Minutes

Not only is homemade almond milk delicious, full of nutrients and antioxidants, but it is quick and easy to make! All you need is a Vitamix and cheesecloth to make this magic happen in 5 minutes or less.

Almonds are an anti-inflammatory, nutritional powerhouse and are rich in:

Vitamin E (antioxidant activity) and phytonutrients

Healthy monounsaturated fat

Minerals (calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium)

Trace minerals (iron, zinc, copper, manganese)

Ingredients (Small batch, increase volume for larger quantities)

8 oz raw almonds

16 oz. filtered water

1 tsp organic vanilla extract

pinch of sea salt

1. Combine almonds and water in Vitamix and pulse on low. Increase speed until the mixture is smooth. Add water if it's too thick.

2. Pour mixture through a cheesecloth and strain by squeezing the milk out through the cheesecloth.

3. Return strained milk to blender, add vanilla and sea salt and blend until frothy.

4. Store in a mason jar in the refrigerator for a few days.

Knee-high stockings are perfect for straining and fit over the top of a Mason jar. Throw them in the washing machine after each use.

Quality, organic vanilla extract adds flavor but also tricks our taste buds into thinking things are sweet. You can sweeten almond milk but keep in mind, vanilla unsweetened will satisfy that craving for sweet.

FYI, you can also soak the almonds and milk overnight and you can adjust the ratio of almonds to water to taste.
