Preventing Disease with Phytonutrients: Resveratrol

Resveratrol
A flavonol belonging to a group of flavonoids. It’s produced by the plant as defense against disease. Antioxidant, but weaker than other flavonoids quercetin and epicatechin. Protects against cancer, promotes heart health, promotes lifespan, anti-toxic, protective benefits for diabetes by reducing oxidative damage due to high glucose levels.
Found in red grapes, red wine, blueberries, peanuts. (The longer red wine is aged with grape skins, the better.)
